About East Coast
East Coast is currently operated by Directly Operated Railways Ltd (DOR) which is wholly owned by the Department for Transport (DfT). DOR oversee the activities of East Coast on the Government's behalf until a new private sector franchisee takes over, currently anticipated to be at the end 2013.
The East Coast Main Line is a high speed railway linking London, Peterborough, Doncaster, Leeds, York, Newcastle, Edinburgh, and beyond. The route forms a key north-south artery on the eastern side of Britain and covers 920 miles.
East Coast call at 53 stations of which 12 are managed by ourselves.

The Future of East Coast
A key aim of the franchise is to increase the number of passengers who choose to travel with East Coast by creating a service that is second to none. Over the next two years East Coast will continue to make significant investments to boost service quality. The overall strategy will focus on each individual element of the passenger journey, from general awareness of the East Coast service, through to arrival at the customers' final destination.

In addition to new routes and faster services, improvements have been made on board and to customer service too. Passengers travelling in First Class can look forward to a new Quiet Coach and a fantastic new complimentary at-seat food and drinks service, making travelling with us even better value.
The good news for customers moving to First Class travel on East Coast services is that complimentary food and beverages are now provided at seat to all First Class passengers, making First Class travel with East Coast better value for money.
