Twenty Companies to do Battle in Business Travel Show Innovation Awards

January 11 2008

The battle to win a Business Travel Show 2008 Innovation Award has begun, as organiser Centaur Exhibitions announces 20 companies have been short-listed across the newly-launched seven categories. Just one company has secured more than one short list mention, indicating just how fierce the competition has been up to this point.

The following short list was chosen by a panel of leading business travel journalists following an initial nomination stage that was open to all:

  1. Accommodation: City Inn, Galileo, Supranational
  2. Air Travel: British Airways, Galileo, Singapore Airlines
  3. CSR: Airplus, Flybe, GetThere
  4. Ground Transportation: Business Taxis, Deutsche Bahn, Eurostar
  5. Technology: Concur Expense Management, Hilton Hotels, HRG
  6. Traveller Service: Baggage Pin, Sabre Virtually There, Turbo Dial
  7. Travel Management Service: Barclaycard Business, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Travelex

The Business Travel Show Innovation Award was introduced as a solitary award in 2005 to recognise and reward business travel suppliers for the innovative products, services and processes they bring to market each year. Such was the popularity of the award, Centaur Exhibitions expanded the single category to seven for 2008 and added a special Gold Innovation Award for the category winner who receives the most votes overall.

Centaur has now thrown the final leg of the voting procedure open to everyone - simply click on www.innovation-awards.com to register your favourite (voting closes on January 23rd). The category winners will be revealed during the Business Travel Show and the Gold Innovation Award will be presented at the exclusive Business Travel Show party being held at the Madame Tussauds on February 6th.

David Chapple, Business Travel Show event director, said: "The panel and I are beyond impressed with the quantity and quality of submissions we received for this year's Innovation Awards - proof that the Business Travel Show really is a hotbed of innovation. Every single company on the short list is a worthy winner and I'm looking forward to seeing who will be doing the winner's walk next month."

The Business Travel Show is the leading event for anyone who buys or manages company travel or books business trips and sources meeting venues over the Internet, the phone or through an agent.

This year, around 250 suppliers of leading edge business travel products and services will be at the Business Travel Show, including 60 first time exhibitors and a further 60 companies featuring in the brand new Meetings Showcase.
