1. When did you launch?
We first launched BusinessTripBuddy.com in 2014 as a cloud-based solution for keeping track of business travel itineraries and expenses. But, we’re very excited about our upcoming companion apps, which will be available for iPhone and Android devices. These new apps, will take our cloud solution to a more personal, productive level.
2. How many people are working for the company?
We are a very small startup at this point. Only 4 people.
3. Sum up what your company/product does in one sentence?
Business Trip Buddy helps business travelers keep track of every aspect of their travel itinerary and expenses while on the road and includes tools that help them be more efficient, productive, and social.
4. Why is it unique?
We’ve taken the best of existing technologies such as turning your forwarded emails into trips, flights, hotel stays, etc., real-time flight status, smart scanning receipts into expenses, link to Uber app passing in your destination, emailing expense reports and more. Then we added social components like “Share a Trip” and “Business Connect”, which allow business travelers to share their trip itineraries with colleagues, family and friends as well as connect with other business travelers at airports, hotels, and anywhere else business travelers have an opportunity to meet.
5. Why is it disruptive?
I think “Business Connect” is our most disruptive feature. It allows business travelers to share a ride to the airport, hotel, or restaurant, meet for a drink or coffee during a layover, invite someone to be a guest in the elite airport club, or just connect with other business people while on the road.
6. What problem does it solve?
Business travelers spend a lot of time alone; in airports, hotels, strange cities and there’s really no easy way to connect with other road warriors unless you happen to be a really outgoing personality. Business Connect lets you connect with people who are close by for business opportunities or just to make a friend.
7. What platforms is it available on and can integrate with?
Our apps work on iOS and Android. Our website is “responsive” so it supports any browser.
8. Which markets is it available in?
Our apps will be in the Apple App Store and Google Play by show time.
9. Which companies are using it already?
Our website is being used by a relatively small group of relatively small companies. We hope to change that with the addition of our new apps and our presence at this show.
10. What do travel managers like about it?
They can manage travel itineraries and expenses for any number of travelers. They mostly like our “Turn Emails into Trips” feature, which keeps them from manually adding travel itineraries and our expense tracking, reporting, and exporting.
11. Why do travellers like it?
Business travelers like to have everything at their fingertips while traveling. They can access their itinerary; call, map, or Uber to anyplace on their itinerary; scan in expense receipts, share their trips, email expense reports, meet other business travelers and more.
12. What are your growth plans?
As I said, we’re currently a very small company. We plan to build our product and brand and hopefully compete with the big guys.
13. Why are you looking forward to exhibiting at the Business Travel Show?
We are very excited about using the show as a “Launchpad” for out new apps and features. We hope to meet lots of potential clients and learn a lot about the industry along the way.
