Senior Vice President & General Manager, Global Accounts & Americas Business Travel Agencies
Ilia is currently responsible for global travel management companies and Americas business travel agency customers in Amadeus. He is leading a team of account management, sales, customer service and marketing professionals. Prior to his role, Ilia led the commercial function for Amadeus North America, Airline business unit. During his tenure with Amadeus, Ilia built a high performing team and attracted talent from leading technology providers in North America. Under his leadership, the team has expanded Amadeus’ footprint in North America including various airline PSS, merchandising, e-Commerce and other technology contracts and distribution agreements including with leading airlines in the region such as Air Canada, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines and WestJet.
Prior to Amadeus, Ilia held the position of VP and Head of Sales for AT&T Inflight Connectivity Business, where he worked in a start-up unit to bring industry-leading high-speed and reliable connectivity and entertainment solutions to commercial, business and general aviation customers.
Prior to joining AT&T, Ilia spent three years at GuestLogix, a fast growing software and payment solutions company that pioneered mobile payments, onboard retail and ancillary revenue solutions for airline and rail industries. Most recently, he served as the Executive Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing and Product Strategy, where he was responsible for all commercial activities for the company. Ilia led a team of sales, product and marketing professionals globally. He led the company’s forays into new ventures and markets, including mobile retail and crew productivity solutions, analytics and business intelligence solutions, and new business ventures such as merchandising of destination attractions. During his tenure, the company delivered seven consecutive revenue record-breaking quarters.
Prior to GuestLogix, Ilia spent twelve years at Sabre Holdings in various leadership roles of increasing responsibilities. In his last role, he served as the General Manager and Vice President of Marketing and Solutions Management of a software and services business unit at Sabre Airline Solutions. The business employed over 400 professionals on three continents and generated over $100 million in annual revenues. Under his leadership, the business unit revenues increased fourfold and profitability transformed from heavy losses to a high-performing unit of Sabre Holdings. Ilia and his team accomplished this overhaul with a new product and marketing strategy, business model transformation from one-time license fees to recurring revenue streams, operational efficiency initiatives, as well as the redesign of the products and services portfolio. Ilia was also responsible for the execution and successful integration of five complementary acquisitions into his portfolio of products and services.
Prior to Sabre, Ilia had working experience in several countries including running his own small business, working in corporate strategy and business planning for Frito-Lay, PepsiCo and with Procter&Gamble.
Ilia grew up in Europe and earned a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Business Administration from the American University in Bulgaria and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Christian University. His academic accomplishments were recognized with various merit-based scholarships and other awards. On the weekends, Ilia enjoys playing soccer, skiing and watching movies with his wife and two kids, age 9 and 12.
